Getting there
Brendan picked me up in his brand new BMW 335 Coupe at 3pm, it was a rather fast ride to Gatwick, Brendan hadn’t taken the beast on the motorway before so exercised it a little. Here he is posing next to his new toy.
Because Brendan had to go out in the evening it meant I had to arrive at the airport 5 hours early. So what do you think I did? Yep, I went to the bar and got slaughtered, which seemed a good idea at the time.
What followed were two hellish plane flights each one 6.5 hours long and me with a hangover all the way, I am never getting drunk before getting on a plane again!
More pain followed when I walked out of the air conditioned airport into the 8pm 32 degree Bangkok humidity, hangover + humidity = buckets of sweat.
I managed to get a cab who knew where the hotel I had booked was, and then spent an hour driving there; it cost a total of 200 baht (3 quid), bargain.
The hotel isn’t bad, what can you expect for £5.77 a night? The air conditioning works, the bed is comfortable and it’s all fairly clean. The restaurant and bar are excellent and it turns out the guy that owns the place used to live in Watford before moving over here 6 years ago, so I’ve kinda been grafted onto the extended family of people who are not quite guests, more like visiting friends. This has been real useful, lots of help always available.
Anyway enough of the trip, that’s boring crap, I’ll post more later.
