A list
I came to the conclusion yesterday that I’ve let far too many things slip in the last few years, especially the last year, as work has been a bit of a headache.
I’m also somewhat concerned that at the age of 43, I am entirely unfit. Over Songkran I was asked to play for the village football team. After 7 minutes of play I was lucky enough (yes lucky) to sustain an injury and be taken off. Why was I lucky? I was already dead on my feet, panting like a dog in a microwave, entirely red and sweating buckets. Then again I did walk onto the pitch with a bottle of beer in one hand and a cigarette in the other.
So with all of this in mind, I’ve come up with a list. This is a list of things I intend to accomplish by the end of the year, so here goes:
- Cut down to half a pack of cigarettes a day – No I’m not giving up, I enjoy smoking far too much, but 60 a day is somewhat excessive!
- Drink alcohol only on weekends – Not saying I drink too much right now, some weeks I don’t touch a drop, but keeping it to weekends means it doesn’t effect my work when I wake up with a hangover.
- Regain my position as one of the best badminton players in Surin – This is judged on the group of Western friends I play with. Two years ago I was one of the best, only person who regularly beat me was Garry Downey, and when we played as a doubles team we would go undefeated for 20 games straight at times. General fitness level is the issue here, so some hard work ahead getting back in shape.
- Become one of the best tennis players in Surin- Again judged on the group of Western friends I play tennis with here. Need to improve my technique and obviously fitness is a big problem.
- Swim twice a week – Ridiculous that I don’t exploit the swimming pool here.
- Pick up a guitar – Been so many years since I played for more than 5 minutes here and there. Plenty of opportunities to jam in this town, need to put some practice in and commit myself again.
So there we go, quite a list, and one I am going to try my hardest to accomplish.
