A list

I came to the conclusion yesterday that I’ve let far too many things slip in the last few years, especially the last year, as work has been a bit of a headache.

I’m also somewhat concerned that at the age of 43, I am entirely unfit. Over Songkran I was asked to play for the village football team. After 7 minutes of play I was lucky enough (yes lucky) to sustain an injury and be taken off. Why was I lucky? I was already dead on my feet, panting like a dog in a microwave, entirely red and sweating buckets.… Continue reading

Finally the story is known!

After what? Two months? I now believe I know almost the entire story of the events leading up to, and immediately following my impressive motorcycle accident. I still do not know what actualy caused the accident, the police insinuated that somebody walked out in front of me, but the police report simply states that “an accident happened”. I do know the combination of a broken collar bone, two broken ribs, and a broken cheek bone, along with the cuts and bruises hurt like a bitch. So without further ado let me tell what I do know with the aid of… Continue reading

Some random thoughts.

A few facts that have been reinforced in my mind over the last couple of days:

  • History always repeats itself.
  • There is no smoke without fire.
  • BCC needs to be exploited.
  • Most farang working in Thailand are lazy.
  • I no longer like the taste of beer.
  • Facebook can actually be useful.
  • My collar bone is slowly mending.

OK pretty random I know, but you might enjoy trying to puzzle some of these out!

I have a very devious Son!

Leon is now one year and three months old, and I am very glad to tell you that he is already displaying signs of being every bit as slippery as his Father! Yesterday Nuth bought some snacks from a food cart that comes by the house now and then; she bought some BBQ chicken for Ball (her 10 year old Son from her first marriage) and some lua kheen (kind of deep fried fish dough balls) for Leon. So Leon takes one look at his fish balls, then looks at the BBQ chicken and instantly decides he wants that instead.… Continue reading

The ghosts were not hungry

As I mentioned in my previous post, I was going out to the village to attend a celebration that is specific to the region of Thailand in which I live. The entire village spent all day cooking food, to be left for the ghosts of dead family members to eat, complete with beer, whiskey and bottles of coke. Of course, as expected the ghosts didn’t actually eat much of it, so around midnight we had the chance to eat all the left overs!

This is the spread that Nuth’s family prepared in their house (every house in the village did… Continue reading
