Why did it have to rain yesterday?

Friends, Koh Phangan January 27th, 2008

We have had amazing weather for the last couple of weeks, it’s the high season here right now, so you can imagine it’s the best time of year weather wise. So why on earth did it have to rain yesterday?

I had worked about 15 hours the day before to clear a whole day with no work, and it went and rained all day, how bloody typical? We did manage to pop out to the temple in Thongsala in the evening, as it was having a festival, and the food stalls are always really good when one of the temples throws a party.

Zab came back today, I just rode the CBR into town to drop him off his keys at the pier, he has an awful lot of luggage and young lady with him, maybe now he will buy some furniture for his apartment!

Oh well, back to the grind stone today, more work to do, I think I worked less hours when I was in England.

Zab has turned up!

Friends, Koh Phangan January 25th, 2008

You may remember me posting that a friend of mine, Zab, had disappeared somewhere between Bangkok and Cambodia, out in the middle of the Isan province, last seen with a Thai girl on one arm and searching for yet another lost mobile phone.

Well I finally spoke to him yesterday, and he should be back on the island by the weekend, which is just about the time that my other friend Mick leaves. Then again Zab can be a bit vague, I wouldn’t be surprised if he disappeared again, let’s not forget it took him 5 weeks to get from Bangkok to Koh Phangan last time, due to the fact he got sidetracked in Pattaya for a month or more!

Another friend leaving Koh Phangan

I have mentioned before how quiet the island is this year, many of the usual regulars who spend their winters here just did not turn up this season. I think this is probably due to the increase in prices of both air travel to Thailand, and the cost of living here.

My closest friend here leaves on Sunday, it’s quite sad really, he’s also good friends with Nuth which is nice as it means she doesn’t mind when he comes to visit. He also loves playing with Leon and has helped out quite a bit with taking care of him when both myself and Nuth need a short break.

I have never had a problem with keeping my own company, but I worry for Nuth, Thai people are very sociable and she has less and less people to talk to every day. I just hope the neighbours never move!

Where is Zab?

Friends, Koh Phangan, Personal January 20th, 2008

My friend from Scotland, Zab, who has been living on Koh Phangan for the last 6 months has disappeared! He was last seen hand in hand with a young Thai lady on his way to Isaan to visit her family!

I spoke to him several times on the telephone whilst he was away from the island, the last time I spoke with him he told me he would be back Wednesday just gone. Every time I call his phone now it just rings and rings. Another friend of mine tells me he got a text message from Zab a few days ago saying something about having to take this girl to the hospital.

I wonder what on earth can have happened to him? I am a little bit worried for sure. I hope everything is cool with him I just wish he would call me.
