Party time

Friends, Fun, Koh Phangan, Personal December 30th, 2007

So it’s almost new years eve and myself and Nuth have decided to throw a party. We have told everyone that we invited that we will supply the food but they will need to bring their own alcohol.

It’s amazing how cheap it can be to live on  Koh Phangan sometimes, I just went and purchased 2 cases of beer, 5 kilos of pork, 2 kilos of tiger prawns and lots of vegetables to make BBQ and fried rice, the whole lot came to less than £30!

Poor Nuth has been preparing food all day and looking after Leon, she will be exhausted by the time the party starts!

Meow number two bites the dust

Home Life, Koh Phangan, Wildlife December 21st, 2007

My poor little cat was squashed by a motorcycle today, I’m really quite sad it was a very nice cat with a distinctive if somewhat crazy personality.

I had popped to the shop up the road to buy some orange juice (I have a bad cold and was thinking the vitamin C might help out) and was only gone for 5 minutes. When I got back I found Nuth standing over the body of the poor thing. She had walked across the road to visit our neighbour and the cat had followed her, when it heard traffic coming it panicked and ran straight under the wheels of a motorcycle.

There wasn’t a mark on her, she just looked like she was sleeping, she was still warm when I buried her in the garden under a tree, we lit some incense for her and placed a flower on her grave, let’s hope she finds a good home in her next life.

An interesting travel discovery

Koh Phangan, Surin, Thailand, Travel December 16th, 2007

I am halfway back from Surin after picking up Nuth and Leon to bring them home to Koh Phangan.

I decided to use overnight sleeper trains for this little venture, on the way I took my usual 2nd class air-con lower bunk ticket but coming back with the baby I decided to try 1st class.

So we got a compartment to ourselves, 2 beds, wash basin and a properly sound proof carriage for about 200 Baht more than a 2nd class ticket.

I can definitely recommend this as an excellent way to travel around Thailand, really pretty stress free and cheap as chips!

Asus EEE PC - First impressions

Technology December 16th, 2007

Amazing, that’s the 0nly word I can use to describe the super little machine I am making this blog entry from in my hotel room in Bangkok!

It really is very impressive, although the keyboard is a little cramped and will take getting used too. The relatively low resolution of the screen is also making things a bit cumbersome but overall it’s performing very well.

I have noticed that it seems to get a little hot, well actually very hot, I am a little concerned about this but will see how things pan out.
